This role offers a unique chance to leverage your materials expertise on complex projects across the Queensland Rail network.In this role, you’ll collaborate with internal engineering teams, maintenance crews, and external suppliers to ensure the integrity and longevity of our infrastructure and rolling stock assets.Key responsibilities include:Leading investigations into material performance and failuresProviding advice on welding, heat treatment, and protective coatingsReviewing and developing materials specifications and technical documentsSupporting procurement with supplier evaluations and quality checksCollaborating on multidisciplinary projects with mechanical, civil, and electrical engineersConducting site inspections to ensure safety and standards complianceParticipating in research and innovation in materials science and sustainabilityFor more details, please review the position description.This role is ideal for:Individuals with a recognised Bachelor of Engineering degree, preferably in Materials EngineeringCandidates with substantial knowledge of track materials, rail microstructure, mechanical properties, welding technology, and rail wheel/rail interactionProblem-solvers who can translate technical insights into practical solutionsTeam players passionate about safety, reliability, and continuous improvementYour journey matters.
