GATE Exam Preparation (Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Writing & Reading)

Everest Tutoring is WA's fastest-growing tutoring company. We help motivated students reach new heights through clear teaching, strong structure, and real support.

If you're a high ATAR graduate who loves working with primary school students and wants to be part of a driven, supportive team, we'd love to hear from you.

Who we are

Everest Tutoring supports Year 4–6 students preparing for the GATE and ASET exams across Perth. We run structured, high-quality programs that build critical thinking, problem-solving skills, exam technique, and confidence under pressure.

We specialise in preparing students for selective high school entry and building strong foundations for future academic success. If you want to teach in a place that takes outcomes seriously and invests in students properly, you\'ll fit in well here.

The role

You'll teach Year 4–6 students in small-group classes (kept intentionally small) and, where needed, 1-on-1 support. Your job is to make challenging content feel clear and achievable for young learners.

What you'll do

* Teach structured GATE preparation lessons covering Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, Reading and Writing
* Break down complex ideas into simple, age-appropriate steps
* Coach students on exam strategy and problem-solving techniques
* Build a positive, encouraging classroom culture where young students feel comfortable asking questions
* Track progress and help students improve week to week
* Work within our teaching approach and resources (so you spend less time on admin)

What we're looking for

We're recruiting tutors who can teach GATE preparation across all four exam components: Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Reasoning, and Writing.

We only tutors who can teach all components and have a genuine passion for working with primary school students.

What you'll bring

We're looking for tutors who are capable, reliable, and genuinely enjoy working with younger students.

1. Academic requirements:
2. Minimum ATAR: 95+
3. Ideal ATAR: 99+ and was in GATE Program themselves
4. Strong analytical and reasoning skills (GATE tutoring requires sharp critical thinking)
5. Skills and mindset:
6. A love for working with primary school students and the patience to match
7. Clear communication and the ability to simplify complex concepts for young learners
8. An energetic, encouraging teaching style that keeps kids engaged
9. Professionalism, reliability, and strong organisation
10. Genuine care for student progress and development
11. Experience:
12. Tutoring experience with primary school students is helpful, but not required
13. Experience working with children (coaching, mentoring, teaching assistant roles) is valued
14. Recent Year 12 graduates are welcome
15. Commitment and compliance:
* Full academic year commitment (preferred)
* Willingness to sign a tutor contract
* NDA and non-compete agreement required
* Must have, or be willing to obtain, a Working With Children Check, Police Clearance & ABN

Locations and schedule

In-person tutoring at our Perth centres, including Harrisdale, Willetton / Rossmoyne, and Perth Modern School. Online options available.

Most sessions run after school and on weekends. Timetables are set term by term and vary by location.

Why tutors love working with us

This role is built for tutors who love working with young students, want to teach well, grow fast, and be part of something that's scaling.

* Smaller class sizes so you can actually teach and connect with each student
* High-quality resources, structured lessons, and clear expectations
* Support and training, including feedback to help you level up as a tutor
* Strong team culture that's friendly, professional, and student-focused
* Real impact where you see young students grow in confidence and ability
* Pay transparency, starting at $35/hr
* Clear progression with opportunities to move into Lead Tutor and Head of Department roles based on performance and responsibility
* Rewarding work with enthusiastic primary school students who are excited to learn

How to apply

Apply now with your CV, ATAR results (or predicted results if you're waiting on release), and a short paragraph covering why you enjoy working with primary school students, your teaching approach for younger learners, and your availability (weekday afternoons, weekends).

Shortlisted applicants will complete a brief screening process, which may include a short teaching demo (video or live), followed by an interview and reference checks.
