About the role
TAFE Gippsland is seeking a proactive and hands-on Facilities Officer to support the effective operation, safety, and presentation of our Morwell and Traralgon Campus'. This is a varied role combining maintenance support, contractor coordination, compliance checks, and day-to-day campus operations.
Reporting to the Senior Facilities Officer, you'll work as part of a collaborative Facilities team delivering services across our campuses to ensure a safe, functional, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
What you'll be doing
* Undertake routine maintenance and minor works (e.g. repairs, painting, furniture moves) to keep facilities safe and presentable.
* Respond to Facilities Help Desk requests and provide excellent customer service to staff and students.
* Coordinate and monitor contractors (cleaning, grounds, minor works) to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
* Support safety and compliance activities, including visual inspections, Essential Safety Measures (ESM) tasks, and incident response.
* Assist with fleet oversight, including vehicle checks, cleaning, and servicing coordination.
* Open and prepare campus facilities daily, check building systems (security, HVAC), and support classroom/event setups.
* Maintain accurate records for keys, security access, compliance tasks, and contractor activities.
* Collaborate with Facilities colleagues across other campuses to provide seamless service coverage.
What you'll bring
* 5+ years' experience in a facilities, trades, maintenance, or campus operations role, ideally within education, government, or service-based environments.
* Demonstrated experience coordinating contractors, overseeing minor works, and resolving a range of maintenance and operational issues.
* A relevant trade qualification or certificate in facilities management, building maintenance, WHS, or a related discipline (highly regarded but not essential).
* Familiarity with digital facilities systems such as Service Portals, EAMS (asset management), or DoneSafe (safety reporting).
* A customer-focused approach with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong ability to plan and prioritise tasks in a busy environment with minimal supervision.
* Practical capability for basic maintenance tasks and manual handling.
Mandatory requirements
* Current Victorian Driver Licence (and ability to travel between campuses).
* Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
* National Police Check (within the last 12 months).
* Construction Induction Card (White Card) or willingness to obtain.
