About the role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time role up to 30 June 2026 based in our Immediate Housing Response Team. Join Anglicare NQ and support your local community today!
As part of the Immediate Housing Response (IHR) program (a service within the Housing and Homelessness Stream), this position will increase the availability of long term housing options by establishing contacts with real estate agents and private landlords; raising awareness of the needs of people experiencing homelessness and the availability of tenancy support; assisting clients to navigate the private rental market and/or explore eligibility for home ownership initiatives such as Help to Buy, Boost to Buy, First Home Buyer, Indigenous Home Ownership Program or Rent to Buy schemes, etc.
Responsibilities (what you will do)
Responsibilities include increasing access to long term housing by building relationships with real estate agents and landlords, raising awareness of homelessness needs and tenancy supports, and assisting clients to navigate the private rental market and explore home ownership options where applicable.
To be successful you will need
- Prior experience working in / with real estate agents / landlords / property or tenancy management
- Demonstrated ability to undertake casework with clients experiencing homelessness who need long term housing solutions
- Sound knowledge of Residential Tenancies legislation, private rental market, housing options and tenancy requirements
- Understanding of social justice and the issues associated with (and links between) access to housing, homelessness, income support and wellbeing
- Demonstrated ability to foster and maintain stakeholder relationships & navigate access to options in a tight housing market
- Proven aptitude for administrative, data and reporting tasks
- Track record of strong teamwork and collaborative practice
- Experience working with First Nations people, families, organisations and communities
Compliance
- Evidence of relevant tertiary qualifications in Community / Human Services or Business / Property related required
- A current QLD drivers license ‘Class C’ or interstate equivalent
- Blue Card (Working with children card)
- Current national Police Check (within the last 3 months)
- Hold or be willing to obtain a current CPR & First Aid certificate
- Out of hours work may be required from time to time
- May be required to transport clients and/or to visit clients in their place of residence or within another setting
- Ability to undertake local area / regional travel is required
