GIS IT OFFICER / GIS SERVICES - GPS TECHNOLOGY / FME SERVER / FME DESKTOP APPLICATION / PERMANENT ROLE

Hays Technology in Geelong are currently partnered with a leading public sector organisation in Camperdown, VIC.
We are seeking to appoint **GIS - IT Officer on permanent role.** This will be a hybrid role working from home and Camperdown office location.
**Your new role**
In this role, you will be responsible for developing, maintaining, supporting, and promoting company’s GIS and related tools.
You will also be responsible for providing support in integration or data transfer between systems and implement GIS strategy and Open Data Policy.
**Key accountabilities will be**:
- Provide support and advise on business process improvement through better use of GIS.
- Develop, maintain, and update the GIS and assist in implementing and designing the policies, strategies, and SOPs applicable to the use of GIS.
- Perform data quality assurance checks.
- Provide support for ICT systems and maintain system security.
- Coordinate with Asset Planning team to ensure common approach to GIS within the organisation.
- Provide support for GIS System and Data manipulation tools and systems.
- Prepare GIS plans and maps for internal and external clients
- Provide support and trainings to users in obtaining maps, data and reports they need to extract from GIS system.
- Collaborate with various Govt agencies, system vendors and other bodies regarding updating of GIS data and upgrade of computer software and hardware.
- Prepare and maintain GIS, documentations, manuals, and procedures.
- Provide support in reviews of systems, system performances, objectives, and forward planning.
- Other duties as and when required.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be considered for this role, you will have:
- Relevant qualification in GIS / IT related discipline.
- Strong exposure in Microsoft SQL databases with spatial extensions, Python and Spatial db libraries for manipulation and loading of data.
- Positive understanding of WMS (Web Mapping Services), WFS (Web feature services), Tile Mapping services, Desktop GIS products (Map info and QGIS) and Web GIS (Spectrum Spatial Analyst).
- Exposure of Windows Desktop Office Suite, Server operating environments and computer network technology.
- Experience with Technology One’s Property and Rating and Core Enterprise Suite desirable.
- Excellent Analytical, Report Writing and Investigation skills.
- Excellent Communication and Interpersonal skills
