The purpose of the position is to lead the product development team to deliver and maintain high quality and scalable products for Artrya. This position will be both a strategic thinker and a hands-on leader.

To meet Artrya’s strategic goals, the holder of this role will lead the design, build and maintenance of our products utilising deep technical expertise with excellent people leadership.

Technical leadership

Lead the design and delivery of a secure, scalable, cloud-based platform

Lead a team of full-stack developers in the design, development, and implementation of software applications.

Architect and develop scalable, high-performing, and secure Java-script applications working closely with enterprise and solution architect.

Drive the adoption of AI tools and automation to improve engineering productivity and platform intelligence.

Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation

Engineering Culture, Delivery & Discipline

Foster a high-performing engineering culture rooted in delivery ownership, technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Provide hands-on leadership across the team – backend, frontend, QA and DevOps.

Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to maintain code quality and standards.

Strengthen engineering governance, with a focus on quality, documentation, testing and reusable frameworks.

Drive the execution and delivery of Artrya’s products aligned to ISO 13845 standards and technical file standards expected by regulators including TGA in Australia and FDA in the US.

Establish and uphold engineering standards and rituals – from sprint reviews and code quality to observability and incident response

Lead change across architecture, tools, and practices with empathy, clarity, and focus.

Product Collaboration & Delivery Alignment

Work closely with Product leadership to ensure engineering direction supports roadmap priorities and business outcomes.

Work closely with architects, delivery leads, product owners, business analysts, testers and developers to prioritise features against delivery timeline

Balance feature delivery, platform enhancements, third-party integrations and compliance needs.

Provide technical reviews to ensure file notes and quality control is maintained.

Ensure seamless integration and deployment of front-end and back-end components.

Stakeholder Engagement & Change Leadership

Maintain compliance and regulatory mandates around technical files, industry expectations for medical device technology and responsiveness to customer feedback or complaints.

Translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable solutions for the team.

Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with strategic objectives

Lead change that focuses on continuous improvements, working across disciplines and applying agile ways of working in a style fit for purpose.

Communicate complex technical strategies clearly and effectively to executives and non-technical stakeholders.

Represent Engineering in leadership forums, incident reviews, customer escalations, and vendor assessments.

We want to hear from you if you have:

A degree in Computer science / engineering degree or equivalent qualifications / experience.

Proven experience (8+ years) as a full stack developer.

Prior experience (5+ years) in a technical leadership role with people leadership responsibilities.

Proven success in scaling and leading cross-functional teams, ideally in regulated industries such as healthcare or fintech.

Strong hands-on experience and proficiency in technologies such as:

o Back-end: Node.js, Python, Java, Ruby, or .NET (expert)

o DevOps/Cloud: AWS, CI/CD pipelines (moderate)

Excellent understanding of software design principles, microservices architecture, and APIs.

Strong communication with the ability to influence across engineering, product, design and executive teams.

Strong understanding of privacy and security best practice and governance (ISO27001, HIPAA etc)

Experience with Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban).

Experience in AI/ML integration and supporting data analytics platforms.

Experience leading a high-performing, inclusive, and collaborative development team focused on quality delivery and continuous improvement
