This position is open to both experienced special education teachers and those wanting experience in our setting.
The role will be at our primary campus in Terang (P-4 from ****).
We encourage teachers from all age groups to apply, as staffing may shift between campuses.
The Cobden campus offers middle years 5-9 and later years *****.
The classroom teacher classification has two salary ranges – range 1 and range 2.
The primary focus is planning, preparing and delivering programmes to achieve specific student outcomes.
Classroom teachers engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve knowledge and skills and effectively engage students.
Responsibilities
Direct teaching of groups and individual students.
Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas or other curriculum programmes.
Undertake classroom teaching-related and organisational duties as determined by the School Principal.
Participate in activities such as parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Undertake other non-teaching supervisory duties.
Range 2 Expectations
Have content knowledge and pedagogical practice to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Model exemplary classroom practice and mentor/coach other teachers to engage in critical reflection and expand capacity.
Provide expert advice on content, processes and strategies to shape individual and school professional learning.
Supervise and train one or more student teachers.
Assist staff to use student data to inform teaching approaches that enable targets related to improving student learning outcomes.
Range 1 Expectations
Develop skills and competencies to become an effective classroom practitioner with structured support.
Plan, prepare and teach programmes to achieve specific student outcomes.
Operate under general direction within clear guidelines.
Possibly supervise and train one or more student teachers.
Participate in the development of school policies and programs and assist in implementation of school priorities.
Selection Criteria
SC1 – Demonstrated knowledge of the curriculum, including integrating literacy and numeracy skills, and experience responding to student learning needs.
SC2 – Experience planning and implementing high-impact teaching strategies, guided by student learning and evaluating the impact on growth.
SC3 – Experience monitoring and assessing student learning, using data to inform practice and providing feedback to students and parents.
SC4 – Interpersonal and communication skills; maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader community.
SC5 – Behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values; reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
Who May Apply
Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the specified curriculum area(s).

Teachers without an approved special education qualification but with provisional or full registration may apply.
Preference given to applicants with an approved special education qualification.
Conditions of Employment
Staff have access to a broad range of employment conditions and working arrangements.
Appointment subject to satisfactory pre-employment conditions check.
Probationary period may apply during the first year.

Payments and Support on Offer
Reimbursement of relocation expenses (up to $5,000) and support to identify suitable housing.
$10,000 (before-tax) retention payments (pro-rata for positions less than full-time), at the conclusion of the second, third and fourth years of employment, up to $30,000 (before-tax).
RRI Candidate Eligibility Criteria
New employee to the school.
Remain employed at the school for 2 years to receive the initial retention payment; continue for subsequent years for third-year and fourth-year payments.
Meet relocation requirements (e.g., ordinarily resides at least 1 hour from this school at the time of application and relocates).
Ordinary place of residence is not classified as Remote Australia (Vic.) or Outer Regional Australia (Vic.) per ABS ASGS Edition 3 Remoteness Areas.
If the school is in Inner Regional Australia (Vic.), ordinary residence is not classified as Inner Regional Australia (Vic.) per ABS ASGS Edition 3 Remoteness Areas.
Qualification Requirements
Provisional or full registration approved by the Victorian Institute of Teaching.
If completed an Australian postgraduate level initial teaching program or course of study on or after 1 January ****, must demonstrate completion of an accredited initial teacher education program.
If graduated from a Victorian ITE program after 1 July ****, must demonstrate passing the literacy and numeracy test for initial teacher education (LANTITE) requirements.
