Job Description

What if you could do the kind of work the world needs? Our WSP Melbourne office is looking to appoint a Civil Project Engineer to join the team. It's a terrific time to join our Melbourne team and excel your career forward.

Open to various levels of experience: Project Manager or Senior Engineer. Work on iconic projects and develop your career within a highly skilled team.

Our Property and Buildings team is a world-leading management and technical consultancy operating across all sectors. We are passionate about tackling the complex and sophisticated challenges of the built environment and delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to create accessible, resilient and liveable communities.

We are immensely proud of our extensive portfolio of projects, demonstrating our breadth of capability and depth of expertise to transform our clients' visions into realities that are sustainable in every sense – commercially, technically, socially and environmentally.

Our team is working on small, medium and large projects across a range of sectors, including Defence, Data Centres and DFAT, and we have a national team approach to all our projects. This means you will work on projects across Australia, not just in VIC, gaining a breadth of experience across diverse projects and industries.

You'll scope and steer civil works from concept through detailed design and construction support, coordinate inputs from roads, drainage, utilities and pavements, and bring a pragmatic eye for buildability, safety and whole of life performance. You'll be a trusted advisor to clients and partners—facilitating workshops, de‐risking decisions, and shaping clear, compliant deliverables—while mentoring our emerging engineers and championing digital design and quality standards.

What You'll Do

* Work on iconic projects within a multi‐disciplined engineering team to deliver civil engineering design projects.
* Carry out assigned project and design work as part of an integral team adhering to technical and commercial standards.
* Manage ongoing communication and highly effective professional relationships with clients.
* Lead and deliver civil engineering projects from inception through to construction, supporting technical and commercial standards, and within time constraints and cost budgets.
* Work in a varied, hands‐on role with a leadership angle across design management, superintendency and site surveillance.
* Delegate and supervise the work of junior engineers.
* Partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders and be committed to a team approach and outcomes.

About You

* Bachelor to Masters' level degree in Civil Engineering.
* 4–10 years of industry experience in the Property and Building space/Land Development of brownfield sites, ideally within consulting.
* Commercial experience in Australia on local medium/large building civil engineering projects is essential.
* Well‐versed in effectively delivering multiple, concurrent projects ranging in scale and sector, e.g. commercial, residential, industrial, land development, subdivisions and infrastructure/roads.
* Strong client relationship management and project management skills.
* Sound working knowledge of relevant local Australian Standards and Codes (AS/NZS 3500, NCC etc.).
* Demonstrated proficiency in using design software (e.g., 12D, Civil 3D).
* Eligibility to obtain Australian Defence security clearance is essential – only eligible to Australian Citizens (Permanent Residents, NZ Citizens & Visa holders are not eligible).
* Highly developed customer‐focus, leadership, teamwork, interpersonal & communication skills.
* 12D model intermediate experience preferred for road and drainage design.
* Proficiency in 'MUSIC' would be desirable.
* Chartered status with Engineers Australia would be an advantage.

Benefits

* Employee Share Purchase Plan available to permanent employees who wish to become owners.
* Flexible working, 12 months parental leave, opportunities for global mobility, purchased additional leave, and competitive remuneration.
* Opportunities to develop your professional network locally, nationally and globally.
* Targeted training to develop your personal brand.
* Business understanding and awareness through various procedures.

Commitment to Diversity
