We are currently seeking a skilled Groundsperson to fill a key role in our Operations team at Darwin International Airport. This hands-on position involves maintaining and enhancing the presentation, safety, and functionality of all airport grounds and infrastructure both airside and landside.
About the Job
* Grounds maintenance: lawn mowing, brush cutting, mulching, weeding, litter collection, and tree care
* Application of herbicides and insecticides for effective pest control
* Minor repairs: fencing, roads, signage, pavements, irrigation systems installation and maintenance
* Airside support: surface repair, vegetation management, stockpile management, and coordination with external contractors
* Support for events, storm clean-ups, emergency response, terminal maintenance, furniture relocation, and participation in the airport runway and apron repainting program
The Ideal Candidate
Essential Requirements
* Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or horticulture
* Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
* Skilled in operating and maintaining grounds equipment
* Physically fit and able to work in various weather conditions
* Familiarity with occupational health and safety practices
* Valid driver's license
Additional Requirements
* Chemical accreditation for safe handling and application
* Airside Driver's License for authorized access
* First Aid Certificate for emergency response situations
* Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) and AFP clearance for secure environments
Desirable Qualifications
* Certificate in Horticulture, Landscaping, or related field for enhanced knowledge
* Experience working in secure or airport environments
* MR license for high-performance vehicles
* White Card for construction site safety
* Irrigation system maintenance experience for efficient water management
* Pest, weed, and vegetation management knowledge for effective ecosystem balance
* Familiarity with small engines and machinery for smooth operation
