Overview
Head of Department, Social Work (Social Worker Level 5) – Canterbury Hospital. Lead and manage the Social Work Department at Canterbury Hospital, including the supervision of staff, management of professional standards and development of safety and quality. The Head of Department collaborates with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work and other Heads of Departments/Deputy Heads of Department to enhance Social Work services, standards and quality across the allied health stream in Sydney Local Health District.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Social Work Department at Canterbury Hospital, including supervision of staff and development of safety and quality practices.
- Ensure skilled standards are maintained and drive quality improvement initiatives across social work services.
- Collaborate with the Professional Discipline Director of Social Work and other department leaders to enhance Social Work services and standards across the allied health stream in Sydney Local Health District.
Qualifications
- Must hold a Bachelor or postgraduate degree in Social Work according to the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award that provides eligibility for full membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
- Demonstrated experience in identifying opportunities to lead planning, implementation and evaluation of service delivery incorporating continuous improvement, evidence-based practice and research.
- Extensive experience in building and maintaining professional and therapeutic relationships with key stakeholders and patients/clients, with well-developed written and verbal communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
