About You
You will be committed to safety and 100% Chain of Responsibility compliance, proud of our ‘Zero Harm’ initiative, and will complete a pre‑employment medical assessment and police check.
Primary Purpose
Assist with general mechanical support for Infield chipping operations by servicing and maintaining specialist forestry equipment such as skidders, feller‑bunchers and Peterson chippers.
Specific Responsibilities
- Perform mechanical inspections and servicing (preventative maintenance) as directed by the maintenance manager on all mobile equipment.
- Carry out mechanical maintenance (corrective maintenance) as directed by the maintenance supervisor or planner on all mobile equipment.
- Attend to, rectify and report any equipment breakdowns immediately.
- Complete any mechanical works as recommended by Original Equipment Manufacturer.
- Ensure all completed mechanical documentation are submitted to the maintenance supervisor or planner for record keeping.
- Assist in identifying and implementing maintenance opportunities for improvement.
- Assist other roles for any tasks deemed necessary by management.
- Participate in any meetings, including pre‑start, maintenance, HS and other meetings as required.
- Notify maintenance supervisor of any defects or damage on all mobile equipment.
- Liaise with supervision to ensure vehicle inspections and major repairs are planned and scheduled.
Qualifications And Experience
- Heavy Duty Diesel mechanic trade certificate.
- Minimum of two years heavy/medium/light vehicle experience.
- Minimum of two years post apprenticeship experience.
- Experience in mobile plant equipment (Heavy Vehicle mobile mining equipment preferred).
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people.
- Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment.
- Ability to work well within a small team environment.
- MR/HR truck licence recommended but not required.
Key Competencies/Skills
- Solid Heavy Duty Diesel Fitter fault‑finding skills.
- Deliver effective mechanical decisions to ensure mobile machinery reliability and operability.
