Overview

Bulls N’ Bears is seeking an experienced financial markets professional with exceptional writing abilities to take on the role of Deputy Editor, based at The West Australian Newspaper offices in Perth.

You will be responsible for the Bulls N Bears editorial team, reporting directly to the Managing Director.

The successful applicant will have a solid background in financial markets or investor relations, and any writing experience would be an advantage.

You will have exceptional grammatical skills and ideally a solid understanding of small-cap ASX listed companies. Any experience in geology would be an added bonus.

Responsibilities

- Oversee a team of analysts and journalists, responsible for all Bulls N Bears ASX listed company news articles published online across multiple mainstream newspapers in major Australian capitals (including The West Australian, The Business News, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Age, and The Brisbane Times).
- Research and prepare for radio interviews with ASX-listed company CEO’s for airing on 6PR (Perth), 3AW (Melbourne), 2GB (Sydney) and 4BC (Brisbane).
- Play a leading role in the launch of the ASX listed company in-studio video interview podcast series; research and assemble show material and secure interviewees.
- Edit and add to the work of senior analysts and journalists; identify and initiate profile pieces on ASX-listed companies doing interesting things.
- Engage with the public markets as a peer with public company CEOs and maintain Bulls N Bears’ position as a prolific publisher of small to mid-cap ASX-listed news across sectors including mining, health tech, agriculture, technology, and biotechnology.
- Develop and maintain a strong writing style with a clear, engaging voice and a deep understanding of public markets and public companies.

Qualifications

- Solid background in financial markets or investor relations; outstanding writing and grammatical skills.
- Experience in journalism, editing, or business journalism is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of ASX-listed small-cap companies; geology experience is a bonus.
- Ability to converse and interact as a peer with public company CEOs.
- Full-time, Perth-based role with office in Osborne Park; some relocation support may be available for applicants from other states.

Role Details

Location: Perth-based role at The West Australian Newspaper offices in Osborne Park. Direct responsibility for Bulls N’ Bears editorial team. Salary is in the six-figure range and commensurate with public markets and writing experience.
