Primary objective
To manage the effective delivery of oral health services to eligible client groups of the East Arnhem and the Top End region and provide
quality oral health clinical service in accordance with Top End Oral Health Service agreed policies, protocols and procedures.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. In consultation with the Clinical Managers, manage the services provided from the Gove Dental Clinic including visiting specialist
services. Manage patients that have very complex medical history and procedural difficulties, perform dental procedures under GA in
Gove hospital.
1. Provide high quality comprehensive clinical services to eligible clients and provide support to dental practitioners and staff located in
nearby school dental clinics as well as supervision of students as required.
1. Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of oral health programmes and activities around
East Arnhem region.
1. Continuously develop and maintain a high level of clinical knowledge, skills and competence in acute and primary oral health care and
actively participate in professional development activities and quality improvements programs.
1. Liaise with other oral health managers, local health and non-health organisations to coordinate the provision of services within East
Arnhem region.
6. Liaise with other oral health managers to ensure continual development of a team approach in relation to the operational functions
of the clinic and its associated services. Undertake community trips up to one week to rural and remote communities.
7. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in
order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Degree in Dentistry registrable with the Dental Board of Australia in the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
2. Demonstrated skills in clinical diagnosis and treatment planning and provision of care for medically compromised patients and complex
clinical cases and the prioritisation of clients on a basis of clinical need and the ability to maintain a high standard of record keeping.
3. Demonstrated leadership with the ability to manage a small clinic and to lead and manage a team of clinical and administrative staff
and students.
4. Demonstrated understanding of and familiarity with current infection control protocols and quality improvement processes and the
ability to incorporate new materials and techniques into clinical practice.
5. Ability to work within a cross-cultural environment, an ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
6. Well-developed oral and written communication skills, liaison and negotiation skills, and the ability to lead in a team environment.
1. Ability to travel to remote areas for up to a week at a time and the ability to provide effective oral health services in an isolated
environment. Willingness to travel either in small charter, commercial planes or by road including 4-wheel drive vehicles.
Desirable
1. Previous experience in rural/remote service delivery.
