Lowrys Accountants is a well-established and growing public practice firm in Darwin, delivering high-quality accounting, taxation, and advisory services across a diverse client base.
We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager/Management Accountant to join our team in a senior, client-facing role. You will manage a portfolio of medium to large corporate clients, providing strategic financial leadership, effectively acting as their External CFO. This is more than a traditional accounting role, you will drive business performance, enhance client service efficiency, and contribute to team development.
Key Responsibilities
* Review financial data for accuracy and oversee month-end and year-end processes, including reconciliations and journals
* Prepare timely financial reports and analysis to support strategic decision-making
* Assist with client budgeting processes and monitor actual vs budget performance
* Manage grant registers and prepare grant acquittals
* Coordinate external audit processes, acting as the main point of contact with auditors to ensure timely completion
* Oversee the preparation of financial statements and ensure compliance with Australian Accounting Standards
* Build and maintain strong client relationships, identifying opportunities to expand services
* Contribute to staff development, performance management, and career progression planning
* Represent the firm in professional networks and contribute to business development initiatives
Skills & Experience
You are a confident and technically strong accounting professional who thrives in a client-facing leadership role.
* Minimum 5+ years' experience in a Finance Manager or Management Accounting role
* Strong knowledge of corporate governance, compliance frameworks, and Australian taxation (desirable)
* Proven leadership and people management capability
* Excellent communication and relationship management skills
* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
* Advanced Excel skills and experience with Xero, MYOB or similar systems
* Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business or related field
* CA or CPA qualification (or working towards) preferred
