Job Description
Cell Culture Engineering Co‐Op in Malvern, PA. The Co‐Op term is from October 2026 to April 2027, full‐time 40 hours per week. The Program offers students practical, hands‐on experience, coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities. Each Co‐Op will be assigned to a specific function and project for the six‐month term.
Responsibilities
As part of the API Proteins organization within Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine, the Co‐Op will collaborate with the End‐to‐End Upstream Process Development and Automation teams, contributing to the development of bioreactor Reduced Scale Models (RSM). The successful candidate will:
* Collect and collate diverse experimental data sets across several bioreactor scales (e.g., 250mL, 5L, 500L, 2kL)
* Perform data transformation via mass balance and kinetic modeling
* Perform advanced data analytics, including Buckingham Pi theorem, Statistical Design of Experiments, Multivariate Data Analysis, and time‐series analysis
* Apply an iterative and adaptive learning approach for experimental design and execution (model‐based or model‐discriminant Design of Experiments)
Qualifications
* Completion of Undergraduate Freshman year at an accredited University is required
* Currently pursuing a Master's or PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related fields
* Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
* Coursework and/or working knowledge of cell culture processes
* Hands‐on experience in process modeling and simulation
* Strong analytical and quantitative skills
* Basic laboratory skills and experience in research, experimental design & execution, and data analysis
Preferred
* Hands‐on experience in cell culture processes
* Hands‐on experience with scale‐up/down methodologies
Eligibility
Permanent authorization to work in the U.S. is required; no sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g., H‐1B or green card) is required at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT, OPT, or STEM OPT are not eligible unless they have an alternative long‐term status that does not require company sponsorship.
