Job Description

On behalf of Charter Australia's partnered aged care service providers, Charter Australia is recruiting Recreational Activities Officers (RAO).

No experience and qualification necessary, successful candidates will be working as full-time trainee Recreational Officer while undertaking the free, on the job training of CHC43415 Certificate IV in Leisure and Health course.

Key accountabilities

* Assist residents to identify their preferred recreational activities
* Document assessed needs of residents according to Company policy
* Implement the established individual programs for residents under the supervision of the Facility Manager
* Evaluate residents' responses to the implemented care plan and document according to Company policy
* Encourage and support clients to participate in activities suited to their particular needs and interests
* Supervise volunteers when involved with resident activities


Requirements

* living or working in NSW
* an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident, humanitarian visa holder or New Zealand citizen
* Category B (NSW Health PD2011_005 Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination Against Specified Infections Diseases)
Skills and Knowledge
* Able to build good working relationships with strong communication and interpersonal skills
* The ability to be an active listener
* The ability to work with limited supervision and deliver on role expectations both autonomously and as a strong team member
* Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgement and handle discreetly, matters of a sensitive nature.

Role Dimensions
* Decision-making - Limited decision-making is vested in this traineeship role. The Trainee RAO should refer all matters that require decisions to their supervisor or the Facility Manager or their delegates.
* Earn while you learn at your own pace to complete a Certificate III in Individual Support qualification with Charter Australia
* Ample opportunity for career progression following the completion of your qualification
