The Sydney Quantum Academy (SQA), supported by CSIRO's Next Generation Graduates Program, is offering
Honours and Master of Research scholarships
in quantum science & technology. Domestic students can gain research experience in leading universities, engage with industry partners, and receive training and funding to build skills for a quantum tech career.
Scholarship Details
Honours Scholarship
Stipend: AUD $10,000 + $5,000 training allowance (Honours year)
Industry Exposure: 6 days
Participating Institutions: University of Technology Sydney, UNSW Sydney, University of Sydney
Eligibility: Domestic students from any discipline entering full-time Honours or Masters (Research) with a quantum tech research project

Master of Research Scholarship
Stipend: AUD $30,000 (pro rata for 1 year) + $5,000 training allowance
Industry Exposure: 20 days
Participating Institutions: Macquarie University
Eligibility: Same, focused at partner institutions

What the Scholarships Offer
These scholarships are part of the Next Generation Graduates Program (NGGP), funded by CSIRO. They are designed to support the next wave of quantum technology experts through interdisciplinary training, collaboration with industry, peer learning, and real research exposure.
Honours Scholarship
: $10,000 stipend + $5,000 training allowance; six days spent with an industry partner. Projects are hosted at UTS, UNSW or University of Sydney.
Master of Research Scholarship
: $30,000 stipend (pro rata) + $5,000 training allowance; 20 days industry placement. Projects at
Macquarie University

Eligibility Criteria
Must be
domestic students
(Australian citizens, permanent residents, or New Zealand citizens) at the time of award. International students are not eligible.
Must be entering or enrolled in
full-time Honours
(UTS, UNSW, Sydney) or
Master of Research
(Macquarie) focused on quantum science/technology.
Projects should be supervised by a quantum subject supervisor or be in a partner university.

Assessment criteria include academic merit, experience in quantum or related fields, leadership, communication, relevance of proposed project, and alignment with quantum technology.
Preference is given to applicants from under-represented groups including women, non-binary, Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
