Position Summary

Pumps fuel, swipes payment cards, provides member service, cleans up spills, and responds to potential emergencies.

Job Duties/Essential Functions

• Greets member, swipes membership and payment cards, removes fuel cap, and pumps fuel

• Sets nozzle to auto-fill or hand pumps

• Puts fuel cap back, returns nozzle to pump, gives member receipt, and thanks member

• Directs traffic as needed

• Cleans fuel spills using neutralizing agent and/or absorbing cloth, disposes of material properly

• Changes filters, performs/arranges for routine equipment maintenance

• Cleans station, including dispensers, data shed, islands, pavement, trash

• Loads pump receipt tape and ribbons

• Performs daily inspections of all equipment

• Performs routine maintenance changing filters and nozzles, changes open and closed signs daily

• Researches area competitive pricing using private vehicle; keys report into computer daily

• Monitors fuel deliveries, signs delivery receipts

• Enforces National fire codes and Costco safety policies, e.g. no smoking, ignition turned off, filling storage containers)

• Responds to alarms appropriately

• Uses fire extinguisher if necessary.

Ability to operate vehicles, equipment or machinery

• Fuel dispensers, card reader, computer, 2-way radio, phone, fire extinguisher, miscellaneous tools for filter and nozzle

changes and private vehicle.

Non-Essential Functions:

• Assists with front end duties and in other departments of the warehouse, as necessary.

Qualifications (Costco-specific or industry specific skills that candidates should possess)

Education/Training: Higher School Certificate or higher

Licenses/Certifications: Current Driver's Licence required

Costco Fuel Station Certification, Fire Safety Certification as required by state (prior to

beginning work in department), Hazard Communication (SDS/Spills), Stormwater basic

awareness, JHA, External Fire extinguisher training

Experience/Skills: Fuel station attendant experience preferred

Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills

Problem solving and critical thinking

Basic math skills

Other specific requirements
