The
Horticultural team are looking for an energetic, self-starter to join our world
class team over the summer university vacation period. This is a casual,
seasonal role based at our Blueberry Farm based in Sulphur Creek.
This work
provides students the opportunity to obtain practical work experience (vacation
work), related to their field of study in Agricultural and Food Science.
About the
Role
In this
role you will be responsible for day-to-day pest and disease scouting of the
blueberry crops, with a focus on maintaining plant health and function. A
strong ability to work autonomously is required for this role.
Other
responsibilities include:
* Monitoring &
reporting of insects and disease in blueberry blocks
* Weekly inspection and
maintenance of insect traps
* Accurate record keeping
and updating of relevant files
* Assistance in data
collection from field trials as required
* Supporting field data capture and analysis of
agronomy and breeding trials
* Assisting with implementation of R&D trials
* Scouting for pests and diseases in new and
established crops
* Assisting with bee activity evaluations
* Assisting with nutrition and irrigation
activities, including moisture monitoring and crop sampling
About You
To be
successful in this role you will:

& interpersonal skills
* Ability to work
unsupervised and follow instruction
* Good time management
skills
* Reasonable computer
literacy (Excel)
* Experience in
horticulture advantageous
* Driver's license
essential and own transport
* Currently studying
agriculture or a related field.
