Job Summary
Laundry Assistants are essential to maintaining high hygiene standards in healthcare settings. In this role, you will be responsible for collecting, sorting and processing soiled laundry.
* Collect and sort soiled laundry including bedding, towels, uniforms and patient clothing.
* Operate washing machines, dryers and ironing equipment according to manufacturer guidelines.
* Use appropriate detergents and disinfectants to ensure proper sanitation.
* Fold and distribute clean laundry to the appropriate areas or individuals.
* Inspect linens and clothing for wear and tear and report any damages or missing items.
* Maintain cleanliness and organization in the laundry room.
* Follow infection control procedures to prevent cross-contamination.
* Ensure proper storage of clean laundry and monitor stock levels of supplies such as detergents and softeners.
Requirements
To succeed in this role, you should possess:
* Previous experience in laundry services preferably in healthcare aged care or hospitality settings.
* Knowledge of washing and fabric care instructions including handling delicate items.
* Understanding of infection control protocols and safe handling of soiled laundry training can be provided.
* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleanliness standards.
* Good organizational and time-management skills.
* Physical ability to handle heavy loads stand for long periods and work in a warm environment.
* Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and public holidays if required.
