Full Time, Fixed Term January 2027

About the Organisation

Mildura Base Public Hospital (MBPH) is a responsive regional health service providing a patient centred approach to care when members of our community are at their most vulnerable, and we do this through a workforce of around 1100 employees who provide care 24/7 to a catchment area of 80,000 community members.

Mental Health Services, forming part of Mildura Base Hospital, offers a range of inpatient and community-based services for people with mental illness in the Northern Mallee Region. The role

We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician with an interest and passion for working with infants, children and families to the team as a Senior Mental Health Clinician. While working with some autonomy, the position will be supported by a manager, regular clinical meetings, supervision and learning and development opportunities.

Along with providing secondary consultation to other professionals and guidance to the multi-disciplinary team whose focus is on improving health outcomes for infants and children aged 0 to 11 years.

The Senior Clinician will be responsible for the provision of comprehensive assessments that build upon the psycho-social information gathered by the START Clinicians. Provision of evidence based therapeutic interventions and holistic support for young people and their families. This will include the provision of triage support, intake and assessment, individual and group therapy, secondary consultation, case management care team meetings, advocacy and referral services.

These services will be based on best practice, evidenced based models of care, and may be delivered in-person or online/telehealth and may also include in-reach and outreach to the community. The Senior Clinician will also work with the parents/caregivers of infants and children and other professional services engaged.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

* Professionally recognised Tertiary qualification in Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy or Psychology, as well as relevant professional registration
* Demonstrated clinical and leadership skills within a relevant healthcare setting.
* Knowledge, experience, and demonstrated passion for, and interest in, the health and welfare issues affecting infants, children and their families/caregiver and improving their health outcomes.
* Knowledge, skills and experience in the provision of mental health assessment and direct clinical care to infants and children who have experienced mental illness, including being able to assess and respond effectively to crisis and high-risk situations when required.
* Work closely within the service to ensure seamless transitions between child, youth, adult mental health services and older adult services
