Join to apply for the Associate Director, Brand, Marketing and Growth role at Edith Cowan University

Are you ready to belong to a dynamic community where courage, creativity, and optimism are essential elements of our DNA? At ECU we’re inspired by the incredible achievements of Edith Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian parliament and a lifelong champion of education. Empowered by her legacy, we’re united in our vision to lead the sector in educational experience and expand our impact through world‑class research.

We bring ECU’s story to life, so ECU is seen, chosen and valued. This commitment is reflected in everything we do across engagement, events, communications, brand, marketing, and customer experience. Our work plays a critical role in enhancing the University’s reputation by shaping how ECU is perceived and experienced by its many audiences.

About the Opportunity

The Associate Director, Brand, Marketing and Growth is a key leadership position reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, leading a large team of strategic marketing and creative professionals responsible for ECU’s brand, campaigns, insights, future student events and growth strategies.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership for ECU’s brand, marketing and growth portfolio, driving awareness, consideration and preference.
- Develop and deliver integrated, data‑led marketing strategies across the full marketing mix and campaigns that attract, convert and retain students.
- Lead ECU’s brand positioning, paid media, tactical campaigns and sponsorship strategies, ensuring a cohesive and compelling presence across all channels.
- Use market insights, analytics and research to inform decisions, optimise performance and strengthen ECU’s competitive position, across the full customer journey.
- Build strong, collaborative partnerships with internal stakeholders, and lead a Business Partnering team that provide trusted strategic advice to Schools and Centres, build strategic marketing plans and bring alignment across initiatives.
- Plan and deliver targeted future student engagement events and a student ambassador program to build consideration with key audiences, such as high schools.
- Lead and inspire a team of marketing and creative professionals, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation and high performance.
- Oversee budgets, supplier partnerships and operational planning to ensure best‑practice execution and delivery of ECU’s marketing objectives.

About you

You’re a collaborative and commercially minded marketing leader who turns insight into impact. You’ll bring:

- Extensive experience in brand, marketing and campaign strategy within a large or complex organisation; experience in higher education will be advantageous but is not essential.
- Expertise in strategic brand development and integrated marketing campaigns spanning the full media mix.
- Solid capability in market analytics, insights and performance reporting across the full customer journey to inform decision‑making and ROI.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, building strong partnerships across internal teams, agencies and suppliers.
- A leadership style that develops high‑performing teams and embeds accountability, innovation and collaboration.
