We are seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to undertake advanced engineering and technical tasks, lead project teams, and act as a work-winning consultant. The role involves delivering successful projects while maintaining our reputation for superior quality work with a high customer focus.
In This Role You Will
* Perform professional technical work involving independence, originality, and judgment.
* Serve as a technical specialist in your area of expertise.
* Act as a work-winning champion, developing bids and liaising with project managers.
* Provide technical advice to management and supervise engineers, designers, and technicians.
* Share knowledge and mentor within the organization.
* Promote quality, safety, and environmental standards.
* Engage with clients for service delivery and business development.
* Contribute to thought leadership through papers and presentations.
* Possibly act as Project Manager, managing scope, time, cost, and quality.
Specific Tasks May Include
* Design review and auditing of machinery and structures.
* Concept and detailed design of machinery and structures.
* Testing, stress analysis, and modeling using advanced techniques.
* Failure and fatigue analysis.
* Development and maintenance of specialist software.
* Preparation of reports, manuals, and documentation.
* Promotion of company capabilities.
* Machinery inspection, including mining and port equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience with machinery such as stackers, reclaimers, excavators, and port machinery.
* Knowledge of relevant design codes (e.g., AS4324.1, AS1418, ISO 5049, FEMII).
* Practical on-site maintenance and operational knowledge.
* Bachelor's degree in engineering or relevant field.
* Minimum 15 years' post-graduation experience.
* Relevant registration (CPEng, RPEQ, RPEV) or ability to obtain.
* Experience in sales and business development.
* Strong communication, organizational, and client relationship skills.
* Proactive, results-oriented, and client-focused.
* Experience in multi-site organizations and the resources sector.
