Position Overview
They are seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Officer to join their dynamic Finance team.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing payments and expenditures, excluding payroll, ensuring efficient and accurate financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable Processing: Receive and verify invoices and requisitions.
Process supplier invoices for payment in the accounting system.
Prepare batches of invoices for data entry, including checking of General Ledger expense or asset codes.
Data entry of all creditor invoices.
Processing employee reimbursable expenses.
Undertake weekly cheque and EFT payments.
Prepare and distribute vendor remittance advices.
Maintain updated vendor files.
Perform month-end roll-over.
Petty Cash: Process petty cash claims.
Reconcile petty cash.
Assets: Generate and send purchase orders to suppliers.
Maintain records of purchase orders.
Maintain asset register monthly.
Other Tasks: Act as a backup for other Finance tasks as assigned by the Director of Finance, including month-end general ledger reconciliation and credit card reconciliations.
Skills, Knowledge, and Attributes
Knowledge of accounts payable and maintaining general ledgers.
High attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
Proficiency in computerized accounting systems and Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
Strong analytical skills and ability to prioritize tasks in a busy environment.
Positive and professional attitude.
Diploma or Degree in Accounting or related discipline or working towards the same.
