The Role
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Assistant Manager supports the delivery of safe, compliant, and customer-focused site operations. This role plays a key part in driving financial performance, maintaining retail standards, and building an engaged, high-performing team.
You will act as Site Manager relief when required, ensuring operational continuity, leadership stability, and consistent customer experience. This position is ideal for a motivated retail leader ready to step up and take on more responsibility within a energetic and supportive setting.
Responsibilities
The Assistant Manager provides leadership support across all operational areas of the site. You will champion safety, deliver excellent customer service, drive sales, manage business and cost controls, and contribute to a culture of teamwork, compliance, and continuous improvement.
You will provide:
- Health, Safety & Compliance: Support HSSE policies and processes, report hazards and incidents, and ensure food/environmental safety standards are met.
- Customer Experience: Role model outstanding service, resolve enquiries, and drive improvements to the customer journey.
- Sales & Retail Standards: Support sales growth through effective ordering, stock availability, merchandising, and promotional execution.
- Team Engagement: Role model company values, foster a culture of trust and recognition, and support team development.
- Operational Excellence: Assist in managing business controls (cash, costs, stock, payroll, security, price execution) and support Site Manager in meeting performance targets.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute ideas, support change initiatives, and encourage smarter ways of working.

About You
- Previous retail or service leadership experience (fuel, QSR, or convenience highly regarded).
- Ability to deliver results across customer service, sales, and operations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with diverse teams.
- Hands-on, flexible, and customer-focused approach.
- Interest in developing leadership skills with potential to step into a Site Manager role.
