Maintenance Technician
This role involves performing a variety of tasks related to road maintenance and construction, including repairs to footpaths, kerbs, and channels.
* Performing daily routine maintenance on assigned plant and equipment, recording and reporting any faults.
* Undertaking minor repairs to assigned plant and equipment.
* Reporting daily, any observed damage to Council assets.
The ideal candidate will have experience in parks and gardens maintenance, and be able to perform various tasks involving heavy lifting and climbing. They will also require a Construction Induction Card and First Aid certification.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Carry out road maintenance/construction duties as required.
2. Maintenance of parks and gardens, recreation reserves, town streetscapes and roadsides.
3. Public convenience maintenance and cleaning e.g. toilets, barbeques.
Plant and Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
1. Operation of assigned Plant and Equipment relevant to the task and skill level.
2. Ensure that daily routine maintenance on assigned plant and equipment is carried out; record and report any faults.
Occupational Health & Safety:
1. Ensure all works are carried out within relevant OH&S guidelines.
2. Installation of warning signs, safety lights and barricades at work sites.
A trade qualification in Horticulture/Landscaping or related field would be desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will be required to participate in knowledge/skills developmental training or OH&S training as directed.
The position requires flexibility to participate in Council's after-hours call-out phone and standby system. Confidentiality is also an important aspect of this role.
