Our Transport Canberra and Business Services Division manages Canberra's integrated public transport network, including a bus fleet of around 450 buses, ensuring reliable, safe, and customer-focused services for the ACT community. The Role As a Canteen Manager, you will play a vital role in supporting our team by managing the daily operations of the canteen at one of our bus depots. Your responsibilities will include: Preparing and serving food, including menu planning, cooking, packaging, and customer interaction. Maintaining a clean and tidy canteen, including daily cleaning of dishes, benches, floors, appliances, and periodic deep cleaning (e.g., deep fryer, bain marie). Ensuring food safety through proper storage, regular fridge/freezer checks, and compliance with regulations. Managing stock, including ordering food items and packaging based on menu needs. Recording stock and financial transactions, including food waste. Adhering to work health and safety procedures to ensure a safe environment for yourself and others. This position does not involve supervising staff but requires strong organisational and customer service skills. What You Bring We are looking for someone with: Demonstrated experience in food preparation and management. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a customer-facing role. Knowledge of food safety practices, supported by relevant qualifications: SITXFSA005 – Use hygienic practices for food safety. SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices.
