Goulburn Valley Health (GV Health) is seeking an exceptional Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to join its Executive team and lead the delivery of safe, high-quality, contemporary care across a complex and growing regional health service.

The Role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the CMO is a key member of the Executive and is responsible for operationalising and evolving GV Health’s clinical governance framework, ensuring excellence in patient safety, quality and risk management across the organisation.
This role provides professional leadership to the medical workforce and works in close partnership with executive peers to deliver integrated, patient‑centred care across all service streams. The CMO also plays a critical role in advancing innovation, research, education and regional collaboration, and will also have the opportunity to maintain clinical practice in their specialty.
Key accountabilities include:
* Clinical Governance & Safety: Lead and continuously improve clinical governance systems, including credentialing, scope of practice, risk management and accreditation.
* Executive Leadership: Contribute to strategic and operational planning, performance management and organisational transformation initiatives.
* Medical Workforce Leadership: Oversee workforce strategy, engagement, education, training and performance of medical staff across the service.
* Service Integration & Innovation: Enable coordinated care pathways across acute, subacute, mental health and community services, and support new models of care.
* Partnerships & Research: Strengthen relationships with universities, regulatory bodies and regional partners to enhance education, training and research outcomes.
* Operational Oversight: Ensure effective systems, reporting, compliance and delivery against performance, budget and strategic targets.
The CMO will maintain a limited clinical practice to ensure continued connection to frontline care and inform executive decision‑making.
About You
You are a senior medical leader with a strong track record in complex healthcare environments and a deep commitment to patient safety, quality and workforce engagement.
You will bring:
* Registration as a Medical Practitioner in Australia or eligible for such registration and hold a specialist fellowship with a clinical specialist medical college.
* Postgraduate qualifications in leadership/management
* Hold a Fellowship or Associate Fellowship with RACMA
* Significant executive or senior leadership experience in clinical governance and service delivery
* Demonstrated success in leading a medical workforce strategy, education and performance
* Expertise in accreditation, quality improvement and risk management systems
* Strong business acumen and the ability to lead organisational performance outcomes
* Exceptional interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to drive cultural change and collaboration across disciplines
* A transformative ‘can do’ approach to leadership and working with experienced teams
