CIVIL SITE ENGINEER

Goulburn, NSW - 80% field-based, 20% office

Salary Package: $110,000-$117, % project uplift + vehicle + Super

Description

Genus Infrastructure (NSW) is seeking applications for an experienced Civil Site Engineer to join our team Immediate start available, with a comprehensive handover provided.

From transmission lines and substations to communications solutions and renewable energy, we design, construct, and maintain the assets that keep Australia moving forward.

The Project: HumeLink East

Genus Infrastructure (NSW), in partnership with Acciona, is proud to deliver the HumeLink East project—part of a $1.4 billion joint venture. This major initiative involves constructing 237 km of 500 kV transmission lines between Bannaby and Wondalga in NSW, along with enhancements to the Bannaby substation. This project is a vital component of the broader HumeLink development, designed to boost grid capacity, support Snowy 2.0, and enable renewable energy integration across NSW. Construction commenced in early 2025, with completion expected between 2026 and 2027. It will create approximately 1,600 jobs and invest $2 million in local communities, with a strong focus on environmental stewardship and stakeholder collaboration.

The Role

Predominantly based out in the field, as well as at our Joint Venture office in Goulburn, the Civil Site Engineer will play a key role in supporting the delivery of this major transmission project. The role involves overseeing on‑site civil works, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, coordinating with construction teams, and contributing to the safe and efficient execution of project activities. This position requires a detail‑oriented professional with strong technical capability and experience working on large‑scale infrastructure projects.

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for:

* Performing overall quality control of all work and reporting regularly on project status.
* Interpreting client needs and requirements and comprehending the client's scope of work and technical specifications.
* Developing preliminary and finalised Bills of Materials (BOMs) for various project materials, and verifying and reconciling BOMs against the latest drawings.
* Raising, recording, and expediting Technical Queries (TQs).
* Assisting with the review of construction schedules.
* Producing and expediting Workpacks for inspection and testing.
* Raising, recording, and expediting Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs).
* Identifying and assessing drawing changes for any financial or time‑related impacts.

Essential Skills / Experience / Qualifications

* Tertiary degree in Civil Engineering.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in engineering or project management roles.
* Demonstrated strong safety record and knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety, including familiarity with Australian industry regulations, applicable codes, best practice, and performance standards.
* Ability to interpret Scope of Work documentation and design drawings, with familiarity in drafting software such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, or SolidWorks.
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks across multiple projects in line with overall project plans.
* High level of analytical ability to solve complex problems.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
* Experience using scheduling tools (such as Primavera) is preferred.

Desirable Skills / Experience / Qualifications

* Qualifications in Operations or Project Management.
* Civil engineering experience or a strong civil construction knowledge base.
* Experience within a professional engineering firm, utilities, resources, or construction industry.
* Experience in earthworks or piling activities is highly desirable, particularly within large‑scale infrastructure or transmission projects.
