ABOUT THE ROLE

The role of the MIB Lead Service Technician is to provide technical assistance in the research and development projects related to Goterra's MIB Services as well as its continuous operation for waste processing.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include but are not limited to
:

* Supporting the continuous research and operations of Goterra's plant and equipment.
* Developing and reporting on workflows and efficiency parameters through data collection and research trials, to drive decision making and improve biological, mechanical and software processes and systems.
* Collecting and preserving samples of organic (food) waste, insects and resulting substrate produced in MIBS for laboratory analysis.
* Conducting experimental biological cycles in the units to evaluate new components, designs and biological parameters through quality control measurements of production outcomes.
* Data gathering, record keeping and evaluation of biological services in MIBS to generate reports and charts for the different departments.
* Working with technicians, operators, engineers and management to identify and implement trials and improvements for the MIBS design.
* Adjusting and calibrating the equipment (pumps, feeding manifold, environmental setpoints, scales, etc) to provide precise conditions for the insects in the units.
* Determining the density of insect neonates to be used in the MIBS through sampling and calculations to maximize organic waste consumption.
* Supporting the development and implementation of processes, procedures and protocols for the safe and effective operations of Goterra's waste management systems in accordance with relevant legislation and codes.
* Assisting with the manufacturing and installation of new units and iterations.
* Working with cloud-based analytics software to drive smart decision-making to deliver tangible business outcomes.
* Conducting remote diagnostics through interactive dashboards and mobile applications to enable faster response to breakdowns.
* Conducting planned and reactive maintenance of Goterra and third-party equipment, including:
* undertaking fault finding and troubleshooting in response to service issues, including diagnoses, calibration, repairs, and programming.
* navigating and interrogating the building automation and autonomous system via the Human Machine Interface BMS.
* documenting service incidents, responses and communicating service status updates to the team.
* removing material contaminants and blockages as needed.

* Support the onboarding, training and upskilling of other MIB service technicians
* Plan servicing, upgrade work and preventative maintenance for network infrastructure

ROLE REQUIREMENTS - SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must:

* Have a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Agricultural or mechanical engineering, applied biotechnology or related field
* Have 2+ years of previous relevant work experience;
* The ability to understand, perform and follow production sequence, workflows, samples collection and data recording.
* Demonstrated competency and capability for biological and equipment problem solving, and a commitment to developing these skills.
* Demonstrated experience with living beings under laboratory conditions and applied biology, with strong focus on biosecurity.
* The ability to observe and record data to drive and develop improved production outcomes of the insect colony to ensure continuous improvement of the biological systems.
* The ability and/or aptitude to read and interpret technical documentation, including engineering drawings, technical manuals and biological parameters to perform experimentation on new developments.
* Demonstrated experience with troubleshooting and fault-finding processes from problem identification through to resolution, including record keeping and reporting.
* Demonstrated ability to develop operational protocols and documentation such as Standard Operating Procedures, Safe Work Method Statements and operational checklists/guidelines.
* Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to proactively use communication skills to collaborate and work effectively within the team, across Departments and with external stakeholders such as clients and contractors.
* The ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, e.g., some lifting up to 20kgs may be required.
* Digital literacy skills - a mobile phone is required to communicate with team members and for task management through the applications Slack and Asana.
* A valid driver's license and reliable transport.

* $77,000 + Superannuation
