About Us:
Quantum-Systems is at the forefront of autonomous, AI-powered aerial robotics globally. Our Australian subsidiary, Quantum-Systems Australia, operates in the Defence, Security, and Commercial markets, specialising in Uncrewed Aerial Vehicles (UAS) in the Asia-Pacific region.
Summary:
This position is a trusted technical lead, responsible for the design, development, and integration of sophisticated systems for unmanned aerial systems (UAS) projects. This role will own systems engineering efforts, from decomposing customer requirements through to integration, test, and delivery.
Key responsibilities include requirements management, ownership of system integration and transition, planning and executing Verification and Validation activities, and reviewing and producing engineering documentation.
Responsibilities:
* Direct the engineering process of the full system lifecycle, from conceptual design to system integration to verification and validation, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
* Decompose scope into system level and subsystem requirements; perform trade studies; lead interface definition and requirements allocation.
* Mentor the engineering team, including systems engineers, to promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Support the coordination of system engineering activities and prioritisation between Australian, American, and German engineering teams.
* Oversee the technical aspects of the project lifecycle, from initiation through to deployment, emphasising effective testing, validation, and strict adherence to deadlines and budget constraints.
* Conduct systematic analysis and technical risk assessment, implementing strategies to mitigate potential obstacles and ensure project success.
* Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, facilitating transparent and effective communication across the organisation.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality metrics across assigned projects.
Qualifications & Experience:
Required
* Minimum of 7 years' experience in Systems Engineering, with significant leadership experience managing technical teams, ideally within the UAS or aerospace sector.
* Tertiary degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field, or substantial relevant experience.
* Proficiency in using requirements databases such as DOORS or JAMA.
* Willingness and ability to travel internationally as required.
* Australian Citizenship and ability to hold a Security Clearance.
Desired
* Demonstrated leadership and planning skills, with a proven track record in contributing to complex engineering projects.
* Familiarity with UAS technologies and platforms, preferably within a defence environment.
* Extensive knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements in the aerospace domain.
* Experience working with distributed multinational teams.
