About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator Leading Hand who can combine hands-on forklift operation with leadership responsibilities, both in an operational space as well as in the office to support leadership growth. You will supervise a small team of operators, ensure inventory accuracy, maintain safe work practices, and contribute to the day-to-day efficiency of our Burnie warehouse. This role is for anybody who has some leadership experience or believes they have the skills and ambition to move into a leadership role.
Primary Duties:
* Unload and load vehicles and sort them appropriately and safely.
* Scanning freight, freight sortation and re-palletising of freight.
* Palletising freight for travel where required.
* Ensuring the correct movement and distribution of freight in a timely manner.
* Carry out all duties within set time frames and follow instructions closely.
* Identify damaged and report them in accordance with site processes.
* Ensure compliance and safety are always adhered to.
* Restrain loads safely as well as with the correct use of straps where required.
* Lead and supervise a team of forklift operators.
* Monitor inventory movement and maintain stock accuracy.
* Assist with training new operators and onboarding staff.
* Coordinate with warehouse management to achieve operational targets.
* Report equipment issues and recommend maintenance or improvements.
About You:
* Hold a current & valid Forklift License (mandatory).
* Strong leadership and team management skills
* Able to follow instructions and work autonomously where required.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
* Previous experience in warehouse operations or logistics.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
* Problem-solving mindset and proactive attitude.
* Effective Computer and Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook) skills
* Knowledge of SAP systems (preferred but not essential)
