Strait Link has a proud history as a vital link in the supply chain between Tasmania and the Australian mainland. As an end-to-end logistics provider, everyday our people - on our vessels, at ports, at our depots and warehouses, and in our trucks and offices - play a vital role connecting Tasmanian businesses and communities.
Through daily sea freight services between Port of Melbourne in Victoria and Port of Burnie in Tasmania, our world-class ships connect the Tasmanian economy and communities with customers, suppliers and markets across Australia and, in turn, the world.
Ready to step up, lead from the floor, and make a real impact?
Strait Link Logistics is looking for a Forklift Operator – Leading Hand to join our Burnie team. This is a great opportunity for an experienced operator who enjoys staying hands-on while developing their leadership capability — or someone ready to take the next step into a leadership role.
You'll combine day-to-day forklift operation with team leadership, supporting both warehouse operations and office-based coordination to help keep things running smoothly.
About the Role
This is a dual-focus role that blends hands-on forklift work with leading a small team. You'll play a key role in maintaining safety, accuracy and efficiency across the warehouse, while supporting new starters, coordinating freight flow and working closely with site leadership.
If you like being involved, taking ownership and helping others perform at their best, this role gives you the platform to do exactly that.
Primary Duties:

* Monitoring inventory movement and maintaining stock accuracy
* Identifying damaged freight and reporting in line with site processes
* Ensuring safety, compliance and load restraint standards are always met
* Coordinating with warehouse management to achieve daily targets
* Reporting equipment issues and suggesting improvements
About You:
* Current and valid Forklift Licence (essential)
* Previous experience in warehouse or logistics operations
* Leadership experience — or the confidence and ambition to step into it
* Strong communication and people skills
* Safety-focused with great attention to detail
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
* Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
* Confident with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* SAP experience desirable but not essential
* Full working rights in Australia
