Fixed Term 5 Years

It's an exciting time to join the City. As we bring the Council Plan 2025–2035 to life, we are growing and reshaping our organisation to better deliver on the priorities that matter most to our community. This includes the establishment of a new Parks & Natural Areas department and a strong focus on improving how we plan, manage and deliver services across our parks, landscapes and natural environments.

That means new opportunities for people who want to contribute to meaningful work, help shape how we deliver services, and be part of a team building for the future. These roles form a key part of that change, providing dedicated leadership and supporting a more structured, proactive and high performing approach to service delivery.

Joining us now means stepping into an organisation with ambition, momentum and a clear sense of purpose. You'll be part of a team committed to making a real difference for our community and helping create a connected, resilient and thriving future for the City.

About the Role

This is more than a management position — it's a chance to drive real impact.

You'll lead a multi-disciplinary team responsible for delivering high-quality parks and natural area services across the City. From lush green spaces to critical environmental assets, you'll ensure our community enjoys safe, sustainable and beautifully maintained environments.

A key focus will be leading a major service transformation — moving from reactive maintenance to a planned, data-driven and future-focused operating model that improves efficiency, performance and long-term sustainability.

What You'll Be Doing

* Lead and inspire a high-performing team across technical, turf, irrigation and landscape services
* Drive strategic planning and service innovation to improve outcomes for the community
* Oversee asset management, ensuring long-term sustainability and smart investment decisions
* Manage budgets, resources and contracts to deliver value for money
* Champion a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement
* Build strong relationships with stakeholders, community groups and industry partners

Why This Role Stands Out

* Make a visible difference in community liveability and environmental sustainability
* Lead a major transformation journey with real organisational support
* Work across diverse landscapes and projects — no two days are the same
* Influence long-term planning, infrastructure and environmental outcomes
* Be part of a leadership team shaping the City's future

What We're Looking For

You're a strategic leader who can balance big-picture thinking with operational excellence. You bring:

* Proven experience managing complex service delivery in parks, open space or similar environments
* Strong leadership skills, with the ability to build capability and drive accountability
* Expertise in asset management, budgeting and contract governance
* A passion for innovation, sustainability and community outcomes
* The ability to lead change and deliver measurable improvements

Applications are to be received by no later than 4.00pm, Friday 8th May 2026.
