The Role
The Lead Structural Engineer is a newly created position within BG&E Minerals Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of the BG&E Group.
Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to support the establishment of BG&E Minerals and its growth into the Mining and Minerals sector within South Australia by developing our structural engineering capability and assuming a range or responsibilities such as:
Develop and advise on construction methodologies and sequencing plans in consultation with site teams and contractorsUndertake detailed analysis and structural design to ensure safety, compliance, and constructabilityAssess the behaviour and performance of materials under construction-stage conditionsDevelop and advise on construction methodologies and sequencing plans in consultation with site teams and contractorsCollaborate with engineers, designers, and consultants to deliver coordinated solutionsReview technical reports, drawings, and design calculations for quality and accuracyPrepare / Assist with the tendering and winning of workLiaise with clients, local authorities, and other project stakeholders as required for the delivery of projectsApply project management principles in carrying out assigned tasks and achieve project deliverables to the required standard and in a timely mannerPrepare and review technical reportsFinancial awareness of projects including resourcing, billing and forecastingIdentify and manage technical and commercial risks on behalf of BG&E and our clientsManage small to medium size consulting projectsTake ownership of the final outcome on distinct projects / packages of work including management of resources and budgets, delegation of responsibilities and quality of deliverables.Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and actively participate in interdisciplinary workshops and risk assessments as requiredEnsure that all work is undertaken in accordance with the appropriate legislation, relevant standards, corporate requirements and systemsRepresent BG&E Minerals and instil confidence in our clients and external stakeholders of the value we bring
About You
You will be a key contributor within BG&E Minerals where you’ll apply your structural engineering expertise across a range of studies and projects.
BEng or higher in Civil/Structural EngineeringRelevant industry experience (10-15 years)Solid understanding of Australian standards and construction safety principlesSkilled in structural analysis software and able to produce clear, accurate documentationProven experience in developing practical, buildable solutions under site constraintsStrong communication and coordination skills, particularly with site teams and contractorsA proactive, hands-on approach to solving engineering challengesHave positive professional relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in South Australia
