Adult Health Registered Nurse
GYHSAC is seeking a full‐time Adult Health Registered Nurse.
About us
GYHSAC is the community controlled Indigenous health provider to over 4,000 residents of Yarrabah – Australia's largest First Nations community. Located east of Cairns, it is less than an hour drive from the city centre.
GYHSAC is a cornerstone of the Yarrabah community and strives to provide culturally appropriate, autonomous primary health services that are initiated, planned and governed by the community through its elected Aboriginal Board of Directors.
The Position
The role is responsible for the delivery of patient care and services that align with the ACCHO model of comprehensive primary health care, achieving prevention, early detection and best‐practice management of health conditions within the community.
Key responsibilities include care coordination, community outreach services, pre‐clinic screening and triage, patient caseload management, referrals, handovers, recalls and case conferences.
Skills and experience
AHPRA registration and a commitment to complying with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Competencies, Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Nurses in Australia.
Demonstrated knowledge of the health determinants faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and proven experience applying this knowledge within a community setting.
Motivation to share knowledge and expertise to support continuous quality improvement and willingness to contribute to the development of peers, students and junior staff.
Other position requirements
* Availability during clinic hours (8:00am – 4:30pm) Monday to Friday
* Commitment to maintaining ongoing CPR certification
* Current Queensland driver licence
Employment with GYHSAC requires Australian citizenship, permanent residency of Australia or New Zealand, or a valid visa that provides work rights.
