About the role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced surgical clinical pharmacist to lead the surgical clinical pharmacy team in an ongoing position within the CALHN Pharmacy Department. The Senior Pharmacist - Surgical Team Leader may rotate across the Royal Adelaide Hospital or The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, supported by the Deputy Director.
As the Senior Pharmacist Team Leader, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering a high-quality pharmacy service within your designated area. You will lead a committed team of pharmacists, technicians, assistants and administrative staff, providing clear guidance, mentoring and support to ensure Medication Management directives, policies and procedures are consistently applied. Acting as a central point of contact for clinicians and service units, you will help drive safe, effective and responsive pharmacy services, while overseeing staff training, development and performance to maintain excellence in practice.
Working collaboratively with fellow team leaders, you will contribute to complex departmental work, manage a dedicated portfolio and support the Deputy Directors of Pharmacy to ensure safe and cost-effective drug therapy that enhances patient outcomes. You will also lead the development, review and teaching of workplace policies and procedures, uphold AdPha Standards of Practice and ensure all legal and professional requirements are met. You are an accomplished and confident pharmacy professional who brings strong clinical expertise, polished communication skills and proven leadership capability. With the ability to lead teams, guide service improvement and manage competing priorities, you are well prepared for a senior leadership role within a complex hospital pharmacy environment.
* Educational/Vocational Qualifications – Bachelor of Pharmacy (or equivalent), and registered or eligible for registration with the Pharmacy Board of Australia.
* Personal Abilities/Aptitudes/Skills – Excellent communication and public relations skills; strong ability to work independently with sound judgement; adaptability, flexibility and resilience; strong organisational and time-management skills; capability in research, data analysis and problem-solving; proven leadership in change management and service improvement; and ability to supervise, educate and support staff across disciplines.
* Experience – Extensive experience in hospital pharmacy practice and demonstrated leadership, supervisory or management experience within multidisciplinary teams.
* Knowledge – High-level professional and technical competence in pharmacy practice, supported by comprehensive knowledge of relevant codes of practice, standards and legislative requirements.
