The role
Our growing Family Law department has an opening for an experienced and highly motivated Legal Secretary / Paralegal.
Providing support to our Family Law solicitors you will have exposure to a broad range of Family Law matters and ideally will have:
Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Excellent communication skills with clients, other parties, and other staff members.
Attending to new client enquires with empathy and professionalism and a knowledge of what information to obtain from them over the phone.
Broad understanding of Family Law processes relating to divorce, property matters, parenting matters and domestic violence.
Ideally, but not necessarily, an understanding about financial agreements and child support processes.
An ability to create basic documents required for the Federal Circuit and Family Court proceedings, such as Application for Consent Orders, subpoenas, simple affidavits, Application for divorce, Costs Notices.
Knowledge of how to use the Commonwealth Courts Portal, including filing documents, issuing subpoenas, downloading documents.
Compiling Counsel briefs including preparing Index and collating documents.
Preparing List of disclosure documents and collating documents.
Preparing basic letters to clients and other parties.
This is a hands-on role offering you a broad range of experience, a chance to grow your skills and engage in varied and challenging work.

Genuine interest in Family Law.
Experience with Smokeball is advantageous but not essential.
