Southern Cross Care QLD have an opportunity for a part-time Maintenance Officer/Gardener to join our SCCQ family at our Caloundra Residential Aged Care Home in Little Mountain. This is initially a 15-month contract with a possibility to extend.

About the roleIn this important role, of a Maintenance Officer/Gardener, you will work with the Residential Manager to ensure the general maintenance work around the home is carried out in alignment with a scheduled program. This role will also see you coordinate contractors where required and ensure all machinery and equipment is maintained in optimal operational condition. A friendly sociable personality coupled with empathy and compassion for the elderly will make you a perfect fit for this role.
What will you bring to the role?
* Maintenance and/or Trade qualification (desirable)
* Previous experience and knowledge in general and commercial maintenance.
* Experience or qualification in commercial gardening, horticulture or similar
* Previous experience managing contractor relationships is highly desirable
* Demonstrated ability to work from manuals and drawings
* Demonstrated problem solving and a "can do" attitude
* Exceptional people and interpersonal skills
* Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
* Strong decision-making and time management skills
* Ability to work as part of a team but also be capable of working autonomously
