The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint a Research Assistant to provide research support to the Women's Health Research Groups (Tapmeier & Gargett). This position will contribute to the delivery of Women's Health program outcomes through a range of laboratory and technical activities, including sample preparation, cell and tissue culture and performing assays such as qRT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and flow cytometry. The position also involves animal handling, monitoring and non-invasive procedures while ensuring all work is conducted in a safe and compliant research environment.

This position will also undertake diverse research activities that may be conducted independently or as part of a team. Responsibilities include operating advanced laboratory equipment, contributing to experimental design, performing complex research procedures and supporting research administration, computing, planning and scheduling.

We are seeking someone with an honours degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent research experience. Strong analytical and manuscript preparation skills, demonstrated experience with molecular biology techniques, microscopy, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and cell culture, as well as animal handling experience, are also highly desirable.
