Our client, a global leader in power and automation technology, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter / Fitter Turner to join their busy Workshop & Repairs team. This role offers a stable, long-term opportunity in a well-established workshop, with competitive pay, consistent overtime, and the chance to develop specialist expertise.

What you’ll be doing:
- Disassemble, inspect, repair, and reassemble large rotating machines (motors and generators)
- Operate lathes, milling machines, and other workshop equipment to repair or fabricate components to tight tolerances
- Fit and align bearings, shafts, couplings, coils, and seals with accuracy
- Perform minor welding and fabrication to support repair tasks
- Review bills of materials and ensure tools and parts are ready before commencing work
- Deliver high-quality jobs safely, on time, and first-time right
- Accurately complete service reports, job cards, and workshop records
- Share skills and mentor apprentices or junior fitters
- Support continuous improvement across workshop processes
What we’re looking for:
- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Turning / Mechanical Fitter)
- At least 2 years’ hands-on experience (4th Year apprentices also considered)
- Strong mechanical reasoning and diagnostic skills
- Commitment to safe work practices and OH&S; compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office for reporting and communication
- Pride in producing quality work to high standards
Highly regarded skills:
- Rigging or Dogger ticket
- First Aid / CPR & Overhead Crane operation
- Experience with vibration analysis or condition monitoring
- Background in high-voltage motor, generator, or traction motor overhauls
