We are seeking a dedicated teacher to support students with additional needs (SWAN), including disabilities, learning difficulties and trauma backgrounds. The SWAN Teacher will have a genuine passion for helping students reach their full potential through personalised learning adjustments and evidence-based strategies, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally.
The SWAN Teacher will also provide support to teaching staff by working cooperatively and collaboratively on curriculum, assessment and environmental adjustments for students.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain IEPs and Education Support Plans (ESPs) for Out of Home Care students.
* Support teaching staff in making adjustments to curriculum, learning programs, and reports.
* Facilitate meetings with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
* Maintain SWAN record-keeping in line with NCCD guidelines.
* Work with families and SWAN students to conduct assessments, including Level B Clinical Assessments, diagnostics, and screeners.
* Liaise with Education Queensland Advisory Visiting Teachers for PI/VI/HI as required.
* Assist in creating SWAN resources and participate in co-curricular activities as required.
Key Qualities:
* Experience supporting students with additional needs, disabilities, or learning difficulties.
* Strong understanding of child and adolescent development and contemporary teaching methods.
* Ability to use a wide range of teaching strategies and monitor student progress.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, parents, and staff.
* Willingness to participate in professional development and school life.
Qualifications & Experience:
* Teaching qualification from a recognised university or college, with special education experience or qualifications.
* Minimum 2 years teaching experience, with experience in learning support.
* Demonstrated ability to implement individual and consultation-based interventions.
