Director, Indigenous Identified Role
The Wet Tropics World Heritage Area is home to the world's oldest continuous tropical rainforest, and carries significant cultural heritage.
* This position is reserved for an Aboriginal male with a strong connection to the land in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
* Board Directors are responsible for overseeing the functions of the Authority as outlined in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Protection and Management Act.
* They will promote the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally, and involve the community in its management.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee the Authority's operations and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Represent the organization at local, regional, national, and international levels.
* Develop and implement strategies to promote the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
Requirements:
* Aboriginal male with a strong connection to the land in the Wet Tropics World Heritage Area.
* Proven leadership and governance experience.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
