Padua College is an independent Catholic boys' day school for Years 5-12, conducted by the Franciscan Friars, with an enrolment of over 1,500 students. We are actively seeking a Swimming Development Coach to join the College on a permanent basis. Padua College's swimming program caters to members and non-members of our local community from beginner learn to swim through to national level squad swimmers and adult masters and operates year-round.
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Swimming Development Coach is responsible for developing the swimmers' capability beyond basic aquatic skills, with a focus on improving swimming efficiency, stroke technique, athletic development and competitive swimming skills. The Swimming Development Coach will plan practices, provide instruction, and often manage team aspects like attendance and communication. Key responsibilities include fostering a positive and motivating environment, ensuring safety, and contributing to the overall success of the college's swimming program.
Key Responsibilities/Tasks:
1. Provide instruction and guidance to swimmers in various aspects of swimming, including technique, stroke development, breathing, and race strategies.
2. Develop and implement practice plans that are tailored to the specific needs and abilities of the squad, focusing on skill development, conditioning, and race preparation.
3. Observe and evaluate swimmers' performance, providing constructive feedback, and demonstrating proper techniques.
4. Encourage and motivate students to achieve their personal best.
5. Ensure the safety of swimmers during practices and competitions, implementing appropriate safety procedures, and being proficient in basic first aid.
6. Keep accurate records of students' attendance, progress, and achievements.
7. Ensure the pool area and equipment are well-maintained and meet safety standards.
8. In conjunction with the Head Swimming Coach manage the squad's attendance, communicating effectively with parents and students, and fostering a positive team environment.
9. Assist in organising swimming competitions and events.
10. Foster a positive and inclusive environment that promotes teamwork and sportsmanship.
11. Support the development of our swim club and attendance to club nights.
12. Attend AIC swim meets and team building activities.

SELECTION CRITERIA
To be considered for this role, candidates should have:
1. Swimming Australia Development Coach or equivalent certification (required) coupled with experience working as a development coach in a similar role.
2. Swimming Australia Advanced Coach certificate (highly regarded).
3. Positive Working with Children Check (Blue Card).
4. Current first aid and CPR certificate.
5. An ability to work autonomously, with demonstrated initiative and motivation to prioritise tasks effectively.
