Your Opportunity
The Staff Specialist – Respiratory and Sleep Medicine Physician provides high-quality specialist medical care in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of respiratory and sleep disorders across the service.
The role contributes to the delivery of safe, evidence-based, patient-centred care through clinical leadership, multidisciplinary collaboration, and participation in quality improvement, teaching, and research activities.
The position supports the development and advancement of respiratory and sleep medicine services within the Health Service, ensuring contemporary practice, service sustainability, and improved health outcomes for the community.
This is a permanent full-time role (80 hours per fortnight); however, the Health Service may consider permanent part-time arrangements with negotiable hours for the right candidate.
Opportunity for Private Practice: Senior Medical Only
The successful candidate may have the opportunity to establish private practice outside of their WBHHS appointment with local private hospitals. The successful candidate may receive assistance and concessions with:
Use of the local private hospital's sessional rooms to allow establishment of practice and referral pathways
Assistance with credentialing and administrative support to commence private practice
Introduction to local GP's, physicians and surgeons to facilitate referral pathways.
What we're looking for
Previous work experience within acute teaching hospital environment.
Proven ability to work in a collegiate partnership with other clinicians, nursing staff and managers.
Ability to provide clinical leadership and to facilitate multidisciplinary teamwork.
Maintenance of a clinical, academic appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
Mandatory possession of a Medical qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Medical Board of Australia (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) with a current annual practising certificate is essential.
Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP), as recognised by the Australian Medical Council, including maintenance of CPD and good standing as required by AHPRA for the maintenance of Specialist Registration.
Specialist Registrants will be preferred in all positions; however non-specialists or overseas trained specialists may be considered where appropriate and significant progression towards fellowship can be demonstrated. Applicants who have completed specialist qualifications but are yet to be registered as a specialist are encouraged to apply.
All such qualifications should be submitted to AHPRA for inclusion on their website in which case, this will provide evidence of qualification. Copies of the required information must also be provided in sufficient time to enable the awarding of Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) prior to the commencement date.
All applicants must be awarded Scope of Clinical Practice (SoCP) by the Wide Bay Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP committee. Information presented for application will be presented to the committee during the selection process, and all appointments are subject to maintenance of SoCP within the CSCF for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken. This process must be completed prior to commencement.

You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $528,085 p.a., comprising salary between $197,063 - $288,584 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to *****%) and annual leave loading (17.5%), motor vehicle allowance, professional development allowance, general attraction and retention allowance, regional and remote attraction allowance (L13-L27) (Permanent Full Time, 80 hrs p.f. or Permanent Part Time, hours negotiable) (Applications will remain current for 12 months).
