Program Leadership and Operational Oversight
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the diploma program, ensuring smooth teaching, learning, and student engagement.
* Coordinate and supervise the teaching team, including casual and ongoing academic staff.
* Provide leadership in course and unit development, working closely with the Program Manager and Academic Committees.
* Ensure teaching materials, resources, and unit content remain current and aligned with Curtin College and Curtin University requirements.
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives, using student feedback, performance data, and academic reviews to enhance the program experience.
Strategic Initiatives and Innovation
The Discipline Lead will drive new initiatives and projects within the discipline as directed by the Program Manager, aligning with the college's strategic goals.
* Implement innovative teaching and learning practices, incorporating emerging educational technologies, industry trends, and student-centered approaches.
* Support the development of interdisciplinary collaborations and initiatives that enhance student learning experiences.
* Identify opportunities for program enhancements, units offerings, and industry partnerships, presenting recommendations to the Program Manager.
Staff Recruitment, Induction, and Development
The Discipline Lead will participate in the recruitment and selection of new academic staff, ensuring alignment with program needs.
* Oversee induction, training, and mentoring of new staff, fostering an environment of academic excellence.
* Provide guidance to teaching staff on academic policies, processes, assessment practices, and quality assurance expectations.
Student Support and Academic Performance
The Discipline Lead will provide academic support and guidance to students, ensuring timely intervention strategies for at-risk students.
* Work with Student Services and Academic Counselling to monitor student progress and engagement, implementing support mechanisms where necessary.
* Maintain high levels of student retention and satisfaction through proactive engagement strategies.
* Ensure students receive accurate information on learning resources, assessments, and academic integrity policies.
Assessment, Moderation, and Quality Assurance
The Discipline Lead will coordinate and oversee unit-level assessments, ensuring compliance with moderation, validation, and benchmarking processes.
* Ensure all assessments are appropriately documented, stored, and reviewed for continuous quality improvements.
* Prepare unit performance reports and provide data-driven recommendations for academic committees.
Engagement with Partner Institutions
The Discipline Lead will liaise with partner institutions (Curtin University and Curtin Singapore), ensuring consistency in curriculum delivery, assessment standards, and student outcomes.
* Work collaboratively with Curtin University faculties to maintain academic alignment across programs.
* Provide operational support to students articulating from Curtin College to Curtin University, ensuring smooth transition processes.
General Administration and Compliance Support
The Discipline Lead will provide the Program Manager with necessary student performance data, unit reports, and operational feedback for compliance reporting.
* Resolve timetable, staffing, and other operational matters, ensuring efficiency in program delivery.
* Participate in college-wide professional development initiatives and contribute to the broader academic community.
