About the role The Technical Services team is currently seeking a
Senior Mine Engineer
to join them on an
8/6 days only roster
based at
Atlas Iron mine sites. Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Engineering and Surveying, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical elements of drill and blast and to prepare and deliver robust Short-Term Plans (STP) that align with the directions set by the Medium-Term Plan (MTP).
Duties
Exercise a sufficient level of detail in developing the Short to Medium Term Planning Horizons which utilise resources efficiently, identifies risk clearly and creates a clear path for a high standard of operational performance and success.
Contribute to the development and review of resource allocations and budgets (people and equipment) to ensure they reflect the business drivers and intent.
Drill and Blast Design and Review – All aspects of Drill and Blast design including, hole layouts, charging instructions, timing and post blast analysis. Ensure regular reviews are undertaken and documented.
Reconciliation – Conduct reconciliation of daily performance of Drill and Blast, Load and Haul and Crushing to ensure alignment to Plan. This role is accountable for defining actions to recover variances to plan.
Optimise the Pit Designs, Dump Designs, Stockpile Designs and Haul paths in line with the STP and Atlas Iron standards to maximise the recovery of Ore and minimise the cost per unit tonne delivered to the ROM.
Skills and Experience
Minimum 5 years as a Mine Engineer
Relevant academic qualification in Mine Engineering
Quarry Manager Certification (desirable)
Site Senior Executive (desirable)
Strong leadership skills in managing direct reports and behavioural expectations
Demonstrated understanding of the mine planning cycles and activities
Practical skills and knowledge in drill and blast design, pit optimisation and infrastructure design
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and external contractors.
Proactive approach with the ability to work without supervision and make independent decisions
Flexible in approach with an adaptive style to suit changing workplace requirements.
WA C class drivers licence or national equivalent
