We are on the lookout for an experienced Subcontract Program Manager to lead Lockheed Martin’s procurement and industry engagement strategy for Next Generation Deployable Duty Facilities and Transportable Capability Cabins, supporting Australian Defence Force operational requirements and the delivery of critical program capabilities.

AIR6500 is the RAAF’s $3 billion program to develop a joint air battle management system that builds on the capabilities offered by Next Generation sensor and command and control systems. AIR6500 will create a fully networked ‘system of systems’ that synchronises air and missile defence operations in joint and coalition environments, maximising situational awareness and enhancing the speed of decision making across the battlespace.
Your responsibilities will include:
This role will support AIR6500 (JABMS) subcontract management excellence initiatives, applying best practices, tools, and resources in line with Subcontract Program Management Guidelines. Overseeing the full subcontract management lifecycle for deployable cabins—from initial design and acquisition through to ongoing sustainment—ensuring effective delivery, performance, and long-term capability support.
The Subcontracts Program Manager’s primarily responsibilities include:
* Manage key subcontractor relationships and drive collaboration
* Lead supplier development to strengthen systems and reduce quality risk
* Design clear, fair and compliant subcontracts aligned to scope
* Mobilise and manage subcontracts through delivery
* Conduct cost and price analysis
* Lead cross-functional teams to evaluate proposals
* Identify and mitigate supply chain and subcontract risks
* Perform risk-based assessments to inform development and mitigation plans
* Collaborate across disciplines on subcontract schedule management
* Leverage lessons learned to optimise outcomes and enterprise agreements
About you:
You will be a highly experienced professional, having managed subcontracts and complex supply contracts, with a proven track record in supplier collaboration, capability uplift, and performance improvement. Ideally you will hold a qualification from an accredited tertiary institution in a related discipline, or have equivalent experience / combined education.
To be successful in this role you will also have:
* Significant Procurement, Subcontracts Management, Commercial or Supply Chain experience
* Significant experience in negotiation and resolution of complex issues
* A background in, or sound knowledge of, Defence capability development processes and Defence acquisition practices
* Demonstrated ability to deliver against requirements, schedules and budgets
* Excellent understanding of the interactions between programs and the engineering disciplines, finance, commercial, support and quality areas
* Significant experience in leading, managing and motivating teams
