We are seeking a skilled and motivated Technical Officer to join our team to support the development, operation and sustainable production of our farm in Mission Beach.
About the Role
As a Technical Officer - Mission Beach Farm, you will be responsible for:
* Conduct soil testing and nutrient analysis, develop and implement optimal fertilization plans to improve the quality and yield of ginger crops.
* Develop and execute pest, disease, and weed control programs, and implement related management measures.
* Regularly monitor water quality parameters (including pH, dissolved oxygen, and temperature) to ensure optimal conditions for crayfish growth.
* Monitor and prevent diseases and parasites in crayfish populations; collect production data and develop breeding and harvesting plans.
* Monitor cattle health, feed supply, and breeding programs.
* Operate and maintain farm machinery, equipment, and irrigation systems.
* Assist in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of farm monitoring and detection equipment.
* Provide consultation, training, technical support, and services on sensor systems, farm management software, and data solutions.
* Collect and analyze production data, provide recommendations for improvement, and assist in enhancing overall productivity and resource efficiency.
* Conduct field trials to evaluate the effectiveness of new technologies or agricultural inputs.
* Prepare technical reports on soil, water quality, crop, and livestock conditions for management review.
Skills and Experience Required
* Diploma or higher qualification in Agriculture, Agritech, or related farm discipline.
* Proven hands-on experience in crop production, livestock management, or aquaculture operations.
* Strong understanding of agricultural technologies such as farm automation and data analytics tools.
* Familiarity with soil testing, nutrient management, and pest and disease control techniques.
* Ability to analyse data, prepare technical reports, and communicate findings effectively.
* Knowledge of precision agriculture tools and software (e.g., GIS mapping, remote sensing).
* Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a rural environment.
* Valid driver's licence and ability to work on-site at the farm as required.
