FIFO General Practitioner - Tieri, Queensland

Practice Information:
The medical practice is a solo GP practice and has been operating for over 13 years. 70% of the workload is general practice and it is normal for the doctor to see approximately 20 patients per day. They also have a full-time Physiotherapist and a full-time Registered Nurse. Referral to specialists is available. Supervision by experienced doctors where required is always available. The practice has pathology collection facilities, sterilisation equipment, a slit lamp, stress test machine, audiology and spirometry equipment. Most of which are necessary to service the major clientele, mine workers, in completing a wide variety of medicals and ensuring they receive the best possible care when they have work‑related injuries. Mine workers and their families are the most common visitors, although the practice also serves surrounding farming properties.
Position Description:
The medical practice is looking for a FIFO General Practitioner to work in a small mixed billing clinic, Monday – Friday 8am – 6pm. You will be treating patients for the usual mix of general practice presentations, as well as conducting some mine‑worker medicals. The position is supported by a great team of Receptionists, a Registered Nurse, Allied Health staff and a long‑term Practice Manager.
Position Requirements:
* General Practice experience is essential
* Experience in Occupational Health is preferred
* Emergency response experience will be looked upon favourably

About Tieri:
Tieri is a very small, friendly mining town located three hours west of both Mackay and Rockhampton and one hour drive from Emerald. The practice services a local community of around 1,500 people and Oaky Creek Coal Mine, plus other surrounding mines and associated services. The town has an Olympic‑size swimming pool, a large recreation centre with a modern gym, squash and cricket courts, a skate park and BMX track, a café, Foodworks, a post office and pharmacy, and an excellent local golf course. There is a primary school in Tieri and the nearest high school is located in Capella, 30 minutes by bus or car.
