Vela APX is a division of Vela Software and provides finance, admin, payroll and HR support to our growing number of software companies across Australia, New Zealand, India, the UK and Singapore.
About the role
The Group Accountant role supports the organisation in the provision, co-ordination, and delivery of a variety of accountant, financial, taxation and administrative activities for the Vela APX Group. This position supports the Finance Reporting Manager in the preparation and processing of a wide range of accounting and administrative activities to ensure the timely and efficient provision of financial services to the organisation. These activities include but are not limited to accruals, prepayments, provisions, BAS, IAS, reconciliations, payroll, banking, and associated reporting (month-end/quarter-end).
Main responsibilities include:
Ensuring the successful completion of the monthly financial deliverables, month end close activities and associated reporting
Assist with the Month End Reporting Tasks including reconciliation and credit card clearing
Coordinate and map intercompany account codes across the Vela APX Group
Effective Treasury Management and support
Assist the Vela APX Group Accounting Team with sharing best practice and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements from the Portfolio Group Finance Teams
Assist the CFO, Financial Reporting Manager and Group Financial Accountant in implementing and improving the financial systems to enable data driven decisions and reduce the reliance on spreadsheets for reporting and analysis. This may include identifying and implementing new systems
Other duties as directed by the Financial Reporting Manager or the CFO
What we're looking for

Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Business, or other relevant professional qualification
Qualified or currently studying towards CA/CPA membership or equivalent.
At least 2 years of experience in a in a related role, preferably within a commercial software environment
Microsoft Applications (proficiency in Excel)
Solid understanding of core accounting principles and applicable accounting standards
You thrive in tackling challenges head-on and finding creative solutions
Highly effective communication skills with high attention to detail
Tech savviness and experience with computerised accounting packages
Energetic and self-motivated being able to work autonomously and in a team-based environment
High level of adaptability/flexibility coupled with a keenness to learn
